Melbourne’s iconic Arts Centre welcomed back its star attraction this month with the reopening of Melbourne’s premier concert venue Hamer Hall. Located in one of Melbourne’s best locations with simply stunning access to the CBD, Yarra River, Southbank and the Arts Precinct, Hamer Hall is a new shining light to Melbourne already well established cultural heritage.
Lumicom are very proud to have provided our Audio Visual and Digital Signage expertise to this major project.
Lumicom were contracted to provide a low latency Video CCTV system for both the Stage view, and the Conductor view cameras. This system is vital to the performers and technical crew as they bring performances in the Hall to life for the audience. The system consist of high quality Panasonic cameras distributed to various Samsung DX Series LCD’s via Extron MTP series video over UTP devices using the Cat6 infrustruture installed as part of the redevelopment. The use of these devices is specifically designed so that the performers get a ‘live’ view of what’s happening with no delay for processing. The system also allows Arts Centre Melbourne technical crew to patch additional displays as required using standard Cat6 patch leads.
To further enhance the visitor experience, Lumicom also installed an integrated Digital Signage system into the Front of House visitor spaces. Lumicom installed 46” and 55” Samsung DE Series LED LCD’s for use as latecomer screens and point of sale displays. Content is provided by a Scala 5 digital signage system integrated with a High Definition Exterity IPTV system for distribution via the IP network. This approach was used to enable the flexibility to add displays and digital signage channels to the network as required in the future. Three very impressive LED displays were also provided and installed by Mediatec. Each of these displays is sourced directly from a Scala 5 Digital Signage player installed by Lumicom providing stunning graphics, video and digital artwork.
Utilising our expert IT and Scala 5 integration services, Lumicom provided WEB based interfaces allowing Arts Centre staff both scheduled and unscheduled control of the LCD’s, and Exterity set top boxes.
