When David Jones move their head office from Sydney to Melbourne, it offered them an opportunity to streamline internal communications while seeking to improve collaborative space. The project in Richmond, Melbourne, involved over 100 spaces across 2 buildings with AV support including room booking displays, presentation capabilities, video conferencing and digital signage. The room management and video conferencing all revolved around the use of Microsoft Exchange and Skype for Business enabled Polycom video and audio conferencing equipment.
Along with the requirements for reliability and a quality installation, David Jones required an AV solution that complimented their Skype for Business workflow which they relied upon for day-to-day communication and presentations with internal departments, suppliers and clients. This requirement along with the very short timeframe meant that Lumicom needed to provide a high-end solution that was simple to use, quick to install, and didn’t interfere or disrupt existing workflows.
The outcome is a highly integrated solution that automatically follows the needs to the user without buttons or remote controls. With multiple input options, Lumicom deployed network-enabled tablets to provide an intuitive and powerful user interface. The entire AV system is being monitored and remotely managed by a “Nodel” network distributed control system allowing the IT support team and Lumicom to monitor the system remotely using a phone, tablet or laptop. The room booking devices integrate seamlessly with Microsoft Exchange and work perfectly alongside the Skype for Business workflow for booking rooms and resources.
