Simplot Australia is a leading Australian food manufacturer and the home of Australia’s favorite food brands. Lumicom have been providing Audio Visual and Digital Signage support and consultation since our beginning. We were very recently called in to provide advice and Audio Visual integration support for a very difficult presentation space. The space itself adjoins a large cafe space that is often used as a breakout area for large presentations and events. Also added to the mix was the kitchen preparation area that is often used by itself or as part of a larger audience in the presentation room.
One of the major challenges with this project was audio support in the cafe area. with a large atrium above and lots of smooth surfaces, the reverberation time measured in the space was between 2.6 and 3 seconds. This reverberation made voice reinforcement almost illegible. With the help of acoustic treatments and design provided by Hanson Associates, Lumicom installed a JBL CBT 70 Series line array system that completely transformed the acoustics of the space. The reverberation time has fallen to 0.5 seconds with a corresponding increase in gain and legibility.
The Kitchen was provisioned with Mitsubishi MDT series LCD’s, mounted to custom designed lifts that make them disappear into the ceiling when not in use, along with Vaddio HD PTZ Camera that also lift into the ceiling when not in use. The cameras can be shown on the LCD’s locally or presented on the 2 x Panasonic PT-DW6300 projectors in the Presentation room or the Mitsubishi MDT 55” LCD’s wall mounted in the Cafe.
Control is provided by a Crestron Pro2 processor with user interfaces provided by a wireless TPMC-8x Touch panel and Docking station in the Presentation Room and a wireless TPS-6x touch panel in the Kitchen. Video switching is provided by an Extron MVX 1212 Matrix switcher while Audio processing is provided by a Biamp Nexia PM and VC system connected via NetLink.
The new presentation room design and AV system has been very well received for it’s simple user interface and functionality.
